Sudhamshu, a young intern describes his experience at Drona and Radel:
What was my expectation before I came?
I was really scared because this was my first interaction with any company. I had very less knowledge of how any internship would be. But I knew I would be doing some projects of my interest or projects that you are working on. Maybe I felt ill be more confident once I join and ill have some idea of how a company works. Ill get a certificate in the end saying that I have done a project. I felt all these because I had asked my friends and others about internships and this are what they told me. Also many of my friends have finished their internships and they have knowledge only on projects they worked on. This is what I thought any internship would be like.
Mahendra briefly gave me an idea how my internship would go for 2 months. I would brush up my basics for 10 days and I would work on parts of projects later. My internship went accordingly.
How different is this learning different from college learning
Basics is completely ignored in college, without these basics I couldn’t have done all of these here. But I understand college can’t go to this depth on every topic. This is where this programme was different for me. Practical learning is the real learning I feel and which I like. In colleges learning is mostly for marks.
Each topic gave rise to new topics and I found that some were interconnected and next day I would come and check in a DSO what I had learnt. After few weeks there was actually a demo. I could really appreciate the DSO and its features and I could understand most of it. I think this is one of my best experiences here. Learning how it works and seeing a demo.
I was introduced to a PCB FDS. It looked really simple after seeing the oscilloscope. There were like few transistors resistors and transformers. I had no idea we had to tackle those problems. Now I can trace a PCB. I did trace FDS many times. I learnt few tips too.
Then I worked on SMPS project. Learnt many topics related to smps like CCM, DCM, transformers, load and line regulation. I could see the end product.
What value this programme adds to my career
I feel confident to face interviews. Apart from the certificate, I have gained some new set of knowledge and skills which I think will help in my career. Now I know how to tackle a new project. How to progress. How to trouble-shoot. I know how a company works now. I am determined to stick to core domain.
Some other things that I liked. The atmosphere here. I was so comfortable. Everyone was so friendly and professional at the same time. I had pictured it will be very serious. It was serious when we were working.
I felt the tour to the production hall is very important. On my first day I had been to production hall. I dint understand everything but later when I was working on few projects i could relate few things so i thought that was important.
I think this was a wonderful experience. I am really happy about the outcome of this internship.
